The first meeting is an initial discussion to explore what you may be looking for from therapy and to determine whether counselling may be helpful for you.  It is important that you feel you can trust and work well with your counsellor and this session can provide you with an opportunity to ask any questions and to assess whether you feel comfortable to proceed with therapy.  Similarly it is important that I feel I am able to help you and I will assess this honestly during our initial discussion.  If we both feel we can work together we can make a contract for a number of sessions or on an open ended basis.

All sessions are 50 minutes and usually take place weekly, however this is something that can be discussed on an individual basis.  Sessions are usually face to face in central Teddington but alternative arrangements can be discussed on an individual basis.

I offer both short and long term counselling and the timescale can be discussed once we have agreed we will be working together.  For longer term work I recommend periodic review sessions to ensure you continue to get what you need from therapy.
